“Bespoke Folk Bonanza” Shark & Fox, Indyana, Jackson Fumberger

Imagine you’ve stepped sideways into a fever dream of extra-terrestrial folk — where lush harmonies clash with wild rhythms, soul and electronica, and you truly belong in this magical musical eco-system.

Shark & Fox twist folk into a fever dream of rhythm, song and reckless harmony. Canada’s Jaron Freeman-Fox bounces around violin-controlled synths and a child’s fretless stratocaster, Australia’s Emily-Rose Sharkova pumps accordion & miniature keyboards through the subs and Rose Callaghan drums a kit fashioned from an Argentinian bombo and Indonesian hand drums. Somewhere in between bent grooves and exquisite vocal incantations, they reshape traditional sounds into something wild, beautiful and unexpected.

Indyana creates spellbinding, cinematic pop with prowess, forged through her boundless appreciation for film scores and her classical training on violin and viola. Merging this with her ethereal voice and childlike fascination with existence, Indyana bridges the gap between atmospheric escapism and gripping dream-pop, whisking audiences away to what has been described as a ‘cosmic woodland’.

Opening the evening is Jackson Fumberger who, combining an electric 5-string violin with electronics, effects, surround sound and generative art, explores the limits of what a solo violin can do in the modern era.
